Something had to be done!
Stephen Gilson from Walthamstow, East London
“I had been eating 2 – 3 large meals every day and drank my allocation of alcohol every week with little exercise. In November 2011 I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and obstructive sleep apnoea. I was falling asleep driving and at work. I lost my driving license and work was suffering, something had to be done. I took up running but this was not proving successful and although I have been very suspicious of the weight loss industry, I decided to give it a chance. A colleague was attending Fitgirlslim run by Karen Smith so I went along to her Fitsteps class on a Thursday night. It was so much fun and her members are so friendly, I found I could keep up and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Karen advised me to keep a food diary to monitor how much I was eating, combined with the exercise every week my weight came down. I was Slimmer of the Week on quite a few occasions. Once you get the bug it becomes an important part of your life, not just the exercise or the weight loss programme but also the social side that Karen brings to her classes. I am now healthier and fitter than I have ever been and can now run 5 km in about 35 mins, not the 50+ mins previously. Much credit must be given to Karen at Fitgirlslim for her encouragement and motivation, she brings fun and enjoyment to her classes and her dedication to her business is undying.”
